Khalil Mania began with a spark of passion for military history, a love for hands-on building, and a desire to share meaningful moments with family. In 2021, while watching a video of a custom LEGO build of a WWII FW190 airplane, I thought I had stumbled upon a dream come true! But after searching far and wide, I realized that LEGO doesn’t offer military sets due to its non-violence policy. That’s when I discovered COBI—a brand from Poland specializing in high-quality, military-themed construction sets and LEGO-compatible bricks.

My wife and sister-in-law brought back a few COBI sets from the UK, and on a family holiday, I built my first model with my three-year-old son. The moment we snapped together those durable, detailed pieces, we were hooked. The quality of the COBI model was astounding—sturdy enough for my son to play with and detailed enough to bring history to life.

However, COBI sets were hard to find in South Africa, which sparked an idea. With encouragement from my family, I decided to make these incredible, history-inspired models accessible to South African enthusiasts. By 2022, Khalil Mania was selling COBI sets on Takealot, Makro, and Amazon. Today, we not only operate this online store but also showcase our products at local air shows and festivals, where we connect with a growing community of like-minded builders.
